Elon Musk defends making SNL star cry after over ‘unfunny’ sketch

Elon Musk has defended harshly critiquing an SNL writer who said he ‘made her cry’, taking to X on Tuesday night to explain why he came down on her so hard.

Chloe Fineman took to TikTok to make her complaints about Musk, who she said berated her in 2021 after she stayed up ‘all night’ to come up with a funny sketch for their show.

The pair appeared together on SNL on May 8, 2021. The sketch in question is believed to be The Ooli Show, in which Fineman played an eccentric TV host, and Musk her lovesick producer.

Fineman claimed she worked hard to come up with the script – and was heartbroken when Musk shot it down.

In his rebuttal on X, he defended being so honest with her.

‘Frankly, it was only on the Thursday before the Saturday that ANY of the sketches generated laughs. I was worried. I was like damn my SNL appearance is going to be so f**king unfunny that it will make a crackhead sober!!’

In a TikTok video this week, Fineman said Musk made her ‘burst into tears’ with his callous reaction to a sketch she had ‘stayed up late’ writing

Rumors about a nightmare SNL guest emcee first spread earlier this year when cast member Bowen Yang told Andy Cohen about his ‘worst’ experience on the show- without spilling all the details.

The rumor mill sparked up again on Monday when Musk tweeted his outrage over SNL’s post-2024 presidential election show, and slammed Dana Carvey’s impression of him.

This led Fineman to share her TikTok, saying: ‘OK, I just saw some news article about Elon Musk being like butthurt over SNL and his impression.

‘And I’m like, you know what? I’m gonna come out and say at long last that I’m the cast member that he made cry. And he’s the host that made someone cry.’

She said Musk berated her over a sketch she had just ‘stayed up late writing’, where Musk played an Icelandic talk show producer who interrupted the show, titled ‘The Ooli Show.’

Fineman continued: ‘I was so excited, I came in, I asked if you had any questions and you stared at me like you were firing me from Tesla and were like ‘It’s not funny.”’

She said that Musk ‘started pawing through my script-like flipping each page, [and] being, like, “I didn’t laugh once, not one time.”‘

In his response tweet, Musk admitted that ‘it worked out in the end’, and Fineman said that despite the Space X chief’s attitude, she thought he ‘was really funny in it.’

It came after Musk slammed Carvey’s portrayal of him on the post-election show, and fired off a series of tweets Sunday in response to the segment in which Carvey mimicked the gestures Musk made while on the campaign trail with Trump.

‘SNL has been dying slowly for years, as they become increasingly out of touch with reality,’ said the Pretoria, South Africa-born magnate, who hosted the show’s May 8, 2021 episode.

He added: ‘Their last-ditch effort to cheat the equal airtime requirements and prop up Kamala before the election only helped sink her campaign further.’

Carvey said while imitating Musk, ‘Check it out – dark MAGA – but seriously, I run the country now.

‘America’s gonna be like one of my rockets: You know, they’re super cool and super fun, but there’s a slight chance it could blow up and everybody dies.’

The SpaceX CEO said of the comic’s performance: ‘Dana Carvey just sounds like Dana Carvey.’
